Just Another $300k, Until They Need Another $300k

Here we go again... This email was distributed this morning. I thought it was pretty interesting. I am sure this project will come in way over budget, they always do. Why would you not get hard bids before coming to the town public for $$$?

Who was responsible for the estimates?

Prowler..

 Hello Friends,

We have come a long way together, from a Special Town Meeting in October 2011 to the recent Town Meeting where, due to all of your efforts and votes, the long awaited Field Project was approved. Thank you all!

It was anticipated that the costs of the project would be covered by the funds appropriated at Town Meeting and the private fundraising completed earlier this year. However, recently the final bids came in and they exceeded the cost estimates. A significant portion of the overage is related to the drainage issues and the costly solutions to resolve them. We now face a gap that needs to be closed ASAP in order to keep this project on target. Our goal is to raise $300,000 in 2 weeks!

Below you'll find a link to a document that highlights possible giving opportunities as well as a Donation Form. However, we are happy to receive donations in any amount! You can also use the following link to make an on-line donation: http://goo.gl/3y7Hd Due to the significant processing fees with credit cards, if you plan to make a donation that is greater than $5,000, please consider making your payment by check.

A reminder charitable donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you would like to donate appreciated stock, please contact Tom Hoffman at thoffman@kafgroup.com

Now is the time. Please help us finalize this project. Every donation will help us bring this project to reality.
